Conn. says Foxwoods' Internet game is not legal

August 15

In Connecticut, after a month-long decision making process, the state Division of Special Revenue has announced that the popular PlayAway game promoted on Foxwoods Resort Casino's Internet site breaches state and federal gambling laws.

The Mashantucket Pequot tribe, which owns and runs the huge and very successful  casino located in Connecticut's southeastern territory contend that it never believed that it was infringing on any onlineor Internet legalities. Nonetheless, the tribe has discontinued it's promo of the game on it's web site for good. Additionally, they will not be permitted to add any other similar games on the site in the future.

The popular PlayAway game reportedly allowed gamblers to check certain outcomes of different casino games by accessing the web site. The State said - no way. Apparently the trouble was noticed when officials read the sites quote - our exclusive new way to play slots, card games and your other favorite games anytime you choose, anywhere there's a computer. Even though, technically, players were not able to actually play from home - they were allowed to see results from home.
